It seems that I was mistaken. We got about three hours of thunder and cloud to cloud lightning. There was much rain. The power went out for an hour and a half. We relearned that you can light a gas burner with a lighter when the igniters are without electricity. As soon as the internet returned, we ordered two head lamps, and two emergency lanterns so that next time, there will be more light available I do miss the 8,000 watt generator we had on the RV, we never lost power.
Before the storms got started, we had this.
That's it! A big puffy cloud.
Oh, and there was this message from the emergency people.
Hallelujah - RAIN!!!
ReplyDeleteOur streets barely got wet but lightning sparked a fire in McDowell, started near the Pemberton/Coachwhip trail intersection. They have it under control today but it was scary seeing the flames from our balcony last night. What next???
ReplyDeleteWhat a relief. You might consider a generator. Ours ran on natural gas. I think you have that.
ReplyDeleteWow! That sounds like a serious alert! I'm glad you got some rain, finally.
ReplyDeleteyay, glad you got rain. we did too, an inch and a half on Friday.
ReplyDeleteOh hell yeah -- rain at last! Happy for you. We have had the wettest August in I don't know how long here in NC (since I haven't been here), and I've been longing to send some of it out west, where it is so desperately needed.
ReplyDeleteThat must have been the same night we got rained on. Finally, some serious rain.
