Cactus and the Virus

Today we have more cactus beauty.  I had actually planned to do a photos only post so I wouldn't talk about our president, Lord Voldemort, but I find I can not resist after his three hour presser today.

This is our ancient prickly pear, still blooming.  The light was pretty harsh when I took this after returning from the store.  We were up and out early today to go to Safeway to pick up prescriptions and stuff Fry's didn't have.  Still no toilet paper.

This is in our next door neighbor's yard.  I've not seen it bloom before.  It basically looks like sticks.

The camera decided to focus on the top blossom, you can sort of see it.  They're really tiny.

The hedge hog continues to bloom.

We spent time this afternoon on the bank, trimming palo verde tree branches that offend us.  Parts of it die off and drop on the ground.  Without constant vigilance and picking up the debris, my pretty rocks stabilizing the bank will be covered in black sticks.  I hate those trees.

So, as I mentioned, there was a three hour presser today.  Lord Voldemort seemed particularly unhinged.  When asked about the wisdom of defunding the WHO (World Health Organization) he went off on a tirade about the WTO (World Trade Organization).  It's like he doesn't know what he is being asked.   He's once again talking about reopening the economy, despite the lack of testing or a vaccine.  He seems to think he has the absolute right to over rule the governors' decisions on whether to stay on lock down or not.  Compare and contrast this statement to a few days ago when he said lock downs were up to the governors so he could not order a national lock down.

Then there was the discussion of how smart the virus is (it's two strands of RNA) and how it has morphed so that antibiotics no longer are effective.  Antibiotics have never in the history of time been effective against viruses.

Other than cactus and whining about toilet paper I do not have too much to say about anything.

  1. If you get a chance read CNN's What the Wall Street Journal Editorial Board gets exactly right about trump's problematic coronavirus briefings.

    The flowers are so cheerful.

  3. LOVE the hedge hog cactus. It's on my list! If you need toilet paper, head to Frys or Safeway on Houghton. They have had it every time I've been in the store. Maybe not your favorite brand ..... nor mine! LOL

  6. Those pink petals are so gauzy and beautiful. The president is an idiot and an attention hog. A three hour presser??? I feel like he's just getting his jollies and making us watch. I cant.
