It really is always something. It's a first world problem for sure, but still a PITA.
This is the fresh water dispenser in the door of the freezer. That's its last gasp before completely and totally dying. I'm pretty sure the previous owner knew it was on its last legs, but neglected to mention it. It's a big deal because water in Tucson is terrible. Too many minerals, it just tastes awful. So we're buying water until this is fixed.
This is something else (first world, again) I am really pissed about. Previous owner graciously left the television. It was an early flat screen, zero smarts, weighed a ton and was a pain to get off the wall mount. Today we decided we would take the wall mount down and hang a piece of art to cover up the holes in the wall.
We got the really long lag bolts out of the wall, and the really long screws as well, and then expected to pull this horrible looking thing off the wall. Nope, Jim hit it several times with a rubber mallet and it will not come loose. I think they used industrial adhesive on it in addition to the hardware. Other than cutting out the sheet rock, I have no idea how to get it gone. So, the piece of art we bought is just slightly not wide enough to go over the ends of the mount, so more art must be acquired. It's always something. Fortunately, there is another wall that needs art to cover up the hole left by the sconce she removed to put her china cabinet close to the wall. It will look nice over there.
We rode the bikes briefly today. Jim had been feeling poorly, but half an hour on the bikes in the sun fixed him right up. There is a lot of mental fatigue in the air, I have it, as well. We haven't been off the bikes all that long, but fitness is noticeably decreased.
This is a local mountain in the morning.
And another in the afternoon.
So, that's all I am going to say about things.
You know, you worded that very well: 'Mental fatigue'. That resonated with me. We're all tired of this shitshow, and it has just begun.
ReplyDeleteThere are always surprises to be discovered in a new home. Ugh. We've never mounted a television on a wall before. Neither one of us want to booger up a perfectly good wall (did I mention how much we hate drywalling?)
I think we are all being careful with our words until we figure out what’s what. I’m doing it too. It makes me sad, that we don’t feel safe to rant and rave, or at least I don’t. And they’re not never in office yet. Am I reading this right? Are you being prudently circumspect?
ReplyDeleteNot really, I'm giving my outrage a break. I'll be back, at present that TV mount on the wall is consuming a lot of my headspace. It's just so STUPID to glue that to a wall. Did they think it would live there forever?????
DeleteI've never been careful with my Words, so, I guess you all will have to Post my Bail when they come for me. *Winks*
Deleteafter the flood when we moved the old fridge that came with the house so they could put down the new flooring we had the copper line to the water dispenser and ice maker removed. we had noticed that after the ice melted there were little white flakes of something in the bottom of the glass. we filter tap water for cooking but buy drinking water. Too much sulfur in the tap water here. also we get notices now and then that, oh, our bad, the water failed inspection but we've addressed the problem now. nice that they let us know after the fact.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scenery, as always. It's such a drag when the inevitable unexpected surprises come to the surface after a real estate transaction! If these are all you have to deal with, I think you've fared pretty well. (Though I have no idea how that wall mount will ever come down unless, as you said, you remove the wallboard.)
ReplyDeleteMetro Phoenix Water is horrible too and our Fridge was brand new when we bought Forever Boheme', yet, the Water/Ice Dispenser went out too... it's the Water, it destroys Appliances in short order, sorry to convey this Truth to you after such a recent move to Sunny Arizona. *LOL* First World Problems tho', I totally understand, we're plagued with them right now too, but, better than having 3rd World Problems for sure. A nice Bike Ride out in Nature is the perfect Therapy for all that ails ya tho'.
