Bullhead City, AZ to Tucson, AZ

Hola!  We arrived yesterday.  The drive itself was not bad.  Roads were good, we made good time.  What totally and completely sucked was unloading the car and piling everything on the floor.  We have no dressers.  We have very few drawers in the kitchen.  I'm looking for a unicorn piece of furniture that will go adjacent to the kitchen that has drawers, and maybe a couple of shelves.  It was a long day.  I went to bed and basically passed out sitting up with my Kindle in my lap.

Today was also long.  The Xfinity guy showed up at 8:00 and got us connected.  It's weird, the previous owner had cable, but he was here quite a while pulling on cables and making the internet work.  One of the first times I called Xfinity about how this connecting would work, I was told to bring my modem, and just plug her in.  Nope, modems can not be moved across state lines, and our cabling was non-standard, to say the least.  Anyway, nice guy, speeds are better here than in Spokane.

So, Bullhead City to Tucson.  The first three days were cold.  The last day was slightly less cold but very windy.  Given this, I wore my Keens.  They were purchased for hiking, but the rocks around here are too much for their soles.  So, they've been in the closet for awhile.  They're not waterproof, but they're better than a Hoka with their mesh uppers.  So, here they are, the ugliest shoes I have ever owned.  But they don't hurt.

This was taken climbing out of Bullhead City on the way to Golden Valley.

I don't get motorcycle riding.  Why is it fun?  Yesterday was cold and very windy.  These people were certainly dressed for it, but what makes it fun?  I took this at the first gas station we hit in Wickenburg, and it was very crowded, and the motorcyclists were not helping congregating where they were.  However, gas in Wikiup was $2 a gallon more, so we didn't stop there.

This is a mural in Tucson, indicating that trees are the lungs of the world.  Too bad we're killing all of them so we can clear forests and grow more methane farting cows.

So, we're here.  We still need to get two dressers for the folded clothing, so I can get the space saver bags up off the floor, and we want a better looking table to go under the TV we bought today at Costco.  The jury is still out on whether or not we want to pay someone to put a mount on the wall, and hang the TV.  There is a hole in the wall from the previous convoluted TV/surround sound, but a large piece of art could make that go away.

This is from twitter.

According to twitter, the orange intestine is under the care of a doctor, and has not been seen or heard from for 24 hours.  I do wonder what would happen if he died tomorrow.  Would Vance slide in to the presidency?  How does that work?

I'm still considering how much I want to blog, complaining about the orange menace.  Maybe a couple of days off of recounting his latest outrage would be good.  I will say that on twitter, which is not always true, some of the MAGAts are realizing that their illegal parents will be deported, their naturalization may be undone, men are feeling more empowered than ever to assault women, and the ACA may be a gonner.  FAFO.

  1. Fun Times, huh? *Huge Eye Roll* And Yeah, those who will now have their Poor Choice hit them square in the Gut will deserve anything and everything they get for giving away our Democracy and The Rule Of Law. However, they Fucked Over all the rest of their American Neighbors in the process who knew the Wise Choice was probably the most critical one in America's History. Que Sera Sera, but, it was the ultimate Betrayal to all who protected and preserved Democracy for Generations and made this a Country where people did want to come to and not run from. The Exodus will soon begin of all those wealthy enuf to have Options when everything is falling apart and other Countries will receive our best and brightest, our Wealthiest, becoz America will be in a downfall, falling from within, and with the Greediest 1% pandering to a Madman and his Sycophant and Nepotism Hired Entourage that Kiss the Ring and his Ass too. We can only Hope his deterioration is complete enuf he cannot even pretend to do the Job. But, I don't think it was the Job he was after, it was always the Adoration and being able to perform The Big Grift again to enrich himself and make his Legal Woes just disappear so he could continue being the Career Criminal and Sexual Predator he's always been, this time, with carte blanche, thanks to his Corrupted Supreme Court he installed during his last Shitshow of a Presidency. This IS what America is and who too many Americans now are, we have to face it without Denial this time around. Congrats on the Move and Welcome to Arizona. If you're ever trawling around Phoenix look me up my Friend, I have to wear Ugly Shoes now too. *Winks*

  2. I hadn't heard that he was under a doctor's care. That is interesting. I think more likely, he's in hiding with the Iranian assassination plot to hold him accountable for Soleimani's death.

I'm about to return to normal blogging, with the occasional response to the outrages of the next four years...and I expect them to be many. We cannot become so focused on this presidency that all other topics fall to the wayside. We need to pay attention, sure, but we need to pay attention to everything, all of it, the big enchilada.

  3. Glad you made it safe and sound to Tuscon. Like you, my Keens are the most comfortable, though not the most attractive. At my age, I'll take comfort over looks.
Can't help you with the motorcyle riding - I've never been on one. I'd definitely have to wear a full face helmut...the thought of bugs in my teeth is a real turn-off.
Interesting that IQ45 is under the weather. He certainly hasn't looked healthy during the campaign. Vance is probably licking his chops.
The latest Reddit news is that Russian TV showed the nude photos of Melania during prime time. Perhaps as a way to remind IQ45 what they have on him too.

  4. I deactivated my twitter account this morning. haven't really been on it since Musk bought it. That's news that he is under a doctor's care. Vance from the get go would be horrible...hello theocracy and forcing women into the home and pregnant. I googled it but no clear answer. HRC in yesterday's newsletter reported that Trump voters are shocked to learn that tariffs will raise prices (they couldn't figure that out before they voted?) and yeah, that their undocumented spouses and relatives with established lives will also be deported. republicans just shot down Biden's plan to protect spouses and make it easier for them to become citizens.

love the mural and yeah, I don't get the thrill of a motorcycle either. knew a paramedic who called people who ride them 'organ donors'. hope you can find a good little freestanding cabinet with drawers for the kitchen.

  5. Glad you made it to Tucson safely, and hope setting up housekeeping isn't too daunting. I know it takes awhile! I'm so glad I have only one more year on the ACA, as I doubt they'll do anything mid-year, so any changes would take effect in 2026. I turn 65 that April so can probably manage until Medicare kicks in even if the ACA is gone. This assuming Medicare is still there!

My 90 year-old mother and I were talking today about how once rump's supporters realize how his policies are going to actually affect them and their families, a lot of them may change their tune. The midterms could be really good for the Dems. This of course if elections are still happening by then. Shiver.

  6. The forest was dying- the trees voted for the AX thinking he was clever and ,after all, his handle was wood- they thought that he must be of them- and the lambs voted for the coyote.

  7. Those bikers were travelling. Loaded bags, serious protective clothing. No thanks. All those who voted for you know who will soon realize they will get everything he promised. And they won't like it.

    1. From your lips to God's ears, Joanne. It boggles my mind that the craziest tRUMP displays were always in yards of the most tumble down ramshackle places. Why do the poor back him? JD Vance would call it 'cognitive dissonance'. I wonder what he calls it these days now that he seems to have caught it too.

  8. Glad you got there safely! What is this about modems not being movable across state lines? Is that some kind of law, or just a technology thing? I'd never heard that. (But I'm not disputing it!)

Glad you're getting settled and I hope you find your unicorn furniture. I'm with you on motorcycles. I don't get them at all.
