It's Easter. It always feels weird, knowing that everything is closed because it's a high holy day for one of the religions. Hopefully everyone else got their errands and shopping done before today. We went to Home Goods yesterday for a new non-stick pot. Our old Spokane house non-stick black pot is missing. The lid is in the drawer, but no pot. How is it that neither of us can remember what happened to the pot? It's been gone for over a year, so it's well and truly not coming back. Anyway, trying to leave, we hit grid lock in the Safeway parking lot. It was just amazing how many people were there buying Easter joy.
Last night we had a pretty good sunset.
Here is the obligatory cute Easter rabbit picture, which has nothing to do with the theology of the day.
If you celebrate, or not, enjoy the day, or not, with whatever your ritual is. We went for a walk up the hill, we should have worn more clothing. Spring has retreated here.
Here, in our small town, everything that would normally be open on Sunday was open. Some stores closed earlier than normal. In fact, the only day all year that one can count on stores being closed is Christmas Day, though even then gas stations and convenience stores remain open.
ReplyDeleteIn Canada, Good Friday is a stat holiday both provincially and federally, and Easter Monday is a stat for federally regulated businesses.
How strange about the pot! Maybe you discarded it and forgot? Or took it to Arizona and left it there? Or a pot thief broke in and stole it (and only it) while you were gone? :)
ReplyDeleteWe have three small corningware dishes with their plastic lids. We've held onto those lids for nearly 50 years. A year and a half ago one of the lids went missing. Neither of us have any idea what happened to it.
ReplyDeleteEaster, just a day. I worked out in the yard.
That is strange about the pot. My sister had an old pyrex baking dish with a matching glass lid so that it could go in the fridge. She loved that dish, but it disappeared a few years back after a family gathering. Someone inadvertently took it home and forgot they have it, but she mourned that dish something awful. She hung on to the lid for a couple years, hoping someone would realize that they have it and give it back. For Christmas, I found a replacement dish. Old pyrex is expensive, but I got this dish pretty cheap. Know why? The seller did not have the lid for it! My sister was so thrilled she almost cried. She went straight to her cupboard, pulled out the lid, and it was perfect!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever had some sort of potluck, set that pan out and perhaps had it go home with someone?
Finally a decent sunset! a bit of moisture in the air and VOILA! Art in the sky! Good to be back??
ReplyDeleteIt's too stinking cold!
