Here is a photo of a backyard visitor. Knocking on the window did not encourage her to leave. Walking out onto the back patio did not either. There is not much hunting allowed here and I think they know it.
Today has been terrible. This is going to be so much worse than I thought it would be. I have to ask when the magats who voted for all of this are going to wake up and notice that prices on everything have gone up. I'm actually wondering if there will be food riots when all of the agricultural workers are deported. It's starting to feel a little Soviet here.

closely tracking and reporting new information on the H5N1 bird flu
outbreak, which is spreading in the nation’s poultry flocks and dairy
cattle and among people who work with those animals. " Now they can't tell us anything, think about the most recent Listeria outbreak which would have been way worse if no one knew about it.
I read today that there is a recent H5N1 variant with an improved ability to jump from cows to pigs. So not good. We're next.
Grants are made to universities for research. NIH has what is called Study Sections, their job is to review and either deny or approve grant requests. They've been suspended indefinitely to save money for the billionaire tax cuts. This means that campus research labs will not be able to pay graduates who do the tedious grunt work of science. This means no new treatments for dread diseases, no basic research into what causes cancer, stuff like that. They're killing science.
There is so much more, but I wanted to capture the muzzling of the health agencies, and suspension of grant reviews.

ReplyDeleteThank you for this summary of the day's purges. My head was reeling from reading about each individual one, and reading your list oddly grounded me. Like reading Heather Cox Richardson every morning does. I knew this would happen, but each separate step the felon takes to dismantle our government is still a shock, and every day to come will bring more. The release of 1600 violent criminals is just today's icing on the cake. I try not to selfishly worry about my own social security check coming to me, but can't help but wonder if there will come a day I'll be forced to pledge a loyalty oath to the felon to get it.

ReplyDeleteThey are already doing immigration raids in California. One orange grower, none of his workers showed up out of fear, acres of oranges did not get harvested. Prices are going to skyrocket and there will be food shortages.

ReplyDeleteAt some point, these changes are going to start affecting MAGA. Unfortunately, Allison, until they actually feel the effects of all of this, they will have no reason to change their thinking. As awful as it is, there is nothing we can do but sit back and watch the scales fall from their eyes. That, and prepare ourselves for whatever comes next. It is going to be awful.
