Greetings Smoke Eaters. We woke up very early today, the atmosphere was poisonous. It's not as bad as the east coast, but it's bad enough. It's making my eyes and my throat hurt. It appears that there will be no, none, not any riding of a bike outside until the wind changes direction.
This was last night, pretty clouds.
So, Jim had a 7:40 surgery check-in this morning. One of his benign skin cancers had morphed into a squamous. Worse, it's very close to the corner of his eye. We elected not to use the practice who had the thing biopsied for its removal. We have seen the kind of scars their Mohs surgeons leave, so we found a Mohs/Plastic Surgeon and had her do it. Only one layer of flesh had to be removed which was good. It's a 40 minute drive, so we were up and out early. Look at Jim's right eye. The accumulation of tissue juice in the eye lid is formidable. There is probably a black eye in his future.
Apparently 47 was once again off the rails last night. He's really pissed at how few networks covered his proof of a stolen election. He's threatening Canada for not raking their forests properly, thus causing forest fires. He's going to call Premier Carney. I would like to hear that call.
Other than that, I got nothing.
Poor Jim. That's so uncomfortable when you have that much fluid buildup in your eyelid. Hope it heals quickly.

That eye looks painful; I hope the fluid goes away soon. My dad had several skin cancer surgeries (nose and cheek) and the scarring was minimal and not very noticeable. You were wise to seek out a better plastic surgeon. Trump is off the rails; I keep saying that but NOTHING happens. It's becoming catastrophic, not that it wasn't before. And what about Mitch McConnell? The Epstein files? The Iran War? Overwhelming.

ReplyDeleteI don't read any of his screeds. He's just one big grievance, wants to pull the broadcasting licenses of the networks who refused to broadcast his lies. One dumbass republican senator is introducing a bill to sanction Canada because of the smoke, like they have control over the wind. Never mind that Canadian firefighters come here to help with our wildfires.
Sorry Jim has skin issues. the largest organ of the human body! I empathize!
ReplyDeleteMy paternal family has Northern skin- sun damage, wind damage, lack of vitamin D or whatever- does its worst. My uncle had to go under general anesthesia in hospital to remove all of the damage his skin endured- genetic curse.
Best to Jim. My sister had skin cancer removed from the top of her head. When they pulled the skin together, she got a bit of a face lift out of it.

Having the best possible surgeon usually guarantees a great outcome. My Uncle had a similar larger lesion removed from his cheek. It took weeks to drain and heal. Plus, a black eye resulted but disappeared. Within a about a month and a half all was great.

47 is on the attack and goes ballistic...again! How can anyone take him seriously. It is all his attempt to take attention away from his own ongoing failures. I hope Carney has a few choice words for 47.
Yesterday was very smoky in Massachusetts. There was no blue sky to be seen.
It rained and the wind shifted and today is beautiful with no smoke.
Waking up to that poisonous, smokey air is the worst, especially when it ruins your outdoor bike rides. You made an excellent call finding a proper Mohs plastic surgeon for Jim, getting it all in one clean layer near the eye is huge win. That swelling looks incredibly intense, so definitely keep the ice packs ready for the black eye that is bound to show up.

He does look like a Black Eye is likely, you will have to not go out with him lest they think you gave it to him my Dear. *LOL* The Fires, well, they're everywhere now aren't they? Here in AZ we've had a lot of them in the North part of our State and of coarse Cali and Colorado are on Fire too. All Toxic and I just imagine all the Wildlife it's killed, harmed and displaced. Where will they go?

ReplyDeleteBarry had a squamous cell cancer close to his ear. Fortunately, they caught it at stage 0, so he didn't even need MOHs, just a very small scraping in the derma's office. I've had two basal cells removed, and he's since had a basal cell as well. We are paying for our years of living so far south (including south of the USA), despite trying to be good about sunscreen. But the active, outdoorsy lifestyle makes it difficult. Hope Jim is much better now!
