We had a decent sunset the other night. It wasn't Arizona quality, but it wasn't terrible. I am currently side lined in my comfy recliner with a heating pad. For reasons known only to itself, my right shoulder has decided to knot up, and put pain up my neck and into my scalp. I am not a happy camper. Today should have been an outdoor ride day, but it's not. I will probably try using the spin bike later this afternoon and see how that works. I really don't want to make this worse by climbing and pulling back on the handle bars.
Did you see that the FDA is warning people not to eat Walmart Great Value shrimp? Seems it might be radioactive. That seems bad.
So, yesterday the European heads of state accompanied Zenlenskyy to the White House. They were sort of a praetorian guard to protect him from bullying on the part of our dictator. During the meeting 47 left the room to call Putin, for instructions I suppose. This is from Aaron Rupar. Think about what Von der Leyen said, and how he responded. He has zero interest in the lives of the missing kids. Click on the link attached to Aaron's name if you want to hear the video.
The man sitting to her left is the President of Finland, who is a golfing buddy of 47. At some point during the meeting, 47 was unable to find him at the table or identify him. He really is decompensating.
I'm not clear on what happens next. 47 is still all over the place about US level of support (if any) or security agreements. Currently Ukraine has stopped oil from moving west into Europe by bombing the pipeline.
They also destroyed a train of tank cars with drones. Oil is becoming a problem for Russia. Pity.
Heather Cox Richardson has a very interesting essay up, from the 17th. She discussed a possible reason for why the Alaska meeting was abandoned at the third hour so abruptly.
Key unanswered questions from Friday’s summit were why it ended so abruptly, with the cancellation of a planned luncheon and more discussions, and why Trump immediately told Fox News Channel personality Sean Hannity, “Because of what happened today, I think I don’t have to think about [further sanctions on Russia] now. I may have to think about it in two weeks or three weeks or something, but we don’t have to think about that right now.”
The abrupt cancellation could mean that U.S. officials sent Putin packing without lunch because he would not agree to a ceasefire. But it seems worth keeping on the table that Trump has recently exhibited both an inability to focus on any topic, and a need to live in a carefully constructed world that ignores reality and assures him he is the best and the brightest. A high-stakes meeting with principals about a very real situation might have been too much for him to manage for a full day.
The highlighting is mine.
Here is an insect on a hydrangea.
Welp, I think my shoulder would like me to stop typing now, so I will obey.

Shoulder Pain I can sympathize with, I have it often. I hope it eases for you soon. As for that dismal meeting, the only thing he seemed to come away with is Putin's Voting "Advice" NOT to allow Mail-In-Voting!!! As if a War Criminal Dictator who Oppresses and doesn't Care about his own People is the best Source of advice on how to have Free and Fair Elections in America!!! Of coarse Putin Framed it in the way that DonOld would take it to Heart, by telling him he Won the 2020 Election but becoz of Mail-In-Voting, it's how it got 'rigged' so that he Lost. *Huge Eye Roll coz DonOld still cannot accept he Lost that Election or get over it* His Focus is non-existent, his Dementia worsening visibly all the time, he doesn't recognize a lot of people now, he's a Psychopath whose Mental Illness was always a concern, now he's got cognitive decline on top of it all, he'll just be more Crazy. And TWO Psychopaths who are Elderly and have Nukes, getting together for any Summit, and left to their own devices, was never gonna End Well now, was it?
ReplyDeleteIt would seem that Ukraine has much better stragegists than russia or putin, no surprise there. putin and trump both like to be told they're so smart and have too many yes people around them to come up with anything original.
ReplyDeleteIt was reported this morning on a Canadian news network that trump has indicated no American troops would be deployed to ensure a ceasefire holds.
ReplyDeleteI do wonder how much longer his handlers will keep trotting him out to embarrass the nation.
I do hope your shoulder pain is resolved quickly.
That sounds like a good theory on why the "summit" ended so quickly. I thought maybe Trump just got frustrated at Putin's reluctance to commit to anything, like a cease fire. But that's probably giving him too much credit. Sorry about the shoulder! Hope it gets better soon!
ReplyDeleteI heard that he has turned the Russia-Ukraine negotiations to Vance. This guarantees thar he has a scapegoat when the negotiations fail.
ReplyDeletePs ever try a home TENS unit?
