Good grief, we are so boring these days. It's the usual, bike or rowing machine, the occasional walk up the big hill. The lake is full of plant life. Last year they poisoned it, they should consider doing it again.
The millfoil is back with a vengeance, but at least it has a pretty bloom.
Jim has completed 10 days of the 5-flourouracil with calcipotriene cream. It was unexpectedly awful, after 9 days there was terrible itch and burning on the top of his head. If your dermatologist ever proposes that you do this routine for a large area of skin cancers, I can not suggest strongly enough that you have this on hand. It will help put out the fire. His head is now looking good, hopefully we will not have to do this again for some time.
Who's aware of the danger ticks pose? It's bad, they're bad and getting worse with climate change. What also is not helping is the stupidity and intransigence of some doctors who will not accept that ticks do carry disease that has long term effects. "Nicole Malachowski made her name as the first woman to fly for the Air
Force Thunderbirds, the service’s elite flying demonstration team who
perform at airshows around the country. She also flew over 180 hours in
combat, instructed F-15 pilots, and served as a military aide to former
First Lady Michelle Obama." I am quoting from this article. She went from this to being medically discharged from the military, 100% disabled. Her case was mishandled from the outset, had she gotten the treatment she needed immediately she might still be on the path to making general. Anyway, know the ticks in your area, and what pathogens they carry.
The north side of the Grand Canyon is closed for this year, maybe longer. A brush fire that federal firefighters decided to treat as a controlled burn got away from them, due to high winds, and everything on the north rim is gone, burned to the ground. This represents a large chunk of income for the state and park service, plus the loss of the lodge. The governor is not amused.
47 gave a speech yesterday, talking about all the weaponry he was going to lavish upon Ukraine. Today he has started walking parts of it back. He's ruled out long range missiles, he doesn't want Ukraine bombing Moscow. Why not? They've just about obliterated Kiev. So, we'll know what's being delivered when it arrives.
Republicans in Congress have voted against releasing the Epstein files. It's not clear to me why they have anything to say about this at all, I though that was the responsibility of the DOJ. We all knew they would never be made public, because he's a child rapist and was on the island with Epstein frequently. Wired magazine has been posting about the edits made to the alleged tape of his jail cell door, almost three minutes are missing. Cover up much?
There's more, there's always more. Here is something funny from the internet.
That's it! That's all I've got.

Love that quote! Yes..find out!!
ReplyDeleteThey were never going to release anything related to Epstein. Why would they incriminate themselves. We know Trump raped children because those grown children have told us so. Their mistake was claiming that it was a bunch of liberals and they would expose it all to rile up their base. Well, they are riled up now. I imagine Noem put it all through the paper shredder. And Malachowski would never have made general, not in this administration.
ReplyDeleteI visited the North Rim of the Grand Canyon with my family way back in 1983. We stayed at a place called the Jacob Lake Inn. The last time I checked during this fire it was still standing, I think, but who knows now. It was right between the two major fires.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as if our provincial fire agency was in charge in the Grand Canyon fire. They've made so many bad decisions resulting in the burning of over 2.5 million acres of forest. There will be no investigation here because our Premier and his gang are idiots.
ReplyDeleteTACO doing TACO things...no surprise he is walking back the assistance to Ukraine, I suspect he had a call from Putin.
Love that Meme! The Fires up North of our State are really bad, they were Naturally caused by Lightening Strikes but everything is so dry up there and the Bark Beetle infestations of our Forests has caused a lot of Dead Trees. I heard that a Century Old Lodge did burn down, but can't recall what else has been Lost, other than all the Acreage of Forest burned. It seems the Forest Service made some bad decisions, not surprising given all the recent Cuts to Parks and Rec Services and Emergency Response etcetera, more Crisis will happen and won't be adequately monitored or staffed. Once people start Dying in droves becoz of it then and only then will it be evident that too much has been cut and too recklessly staffed with incompetents in charge, and firing or driving off all the competent seasoned Staff.
ReplyDeleteYes, ticks are very common here in the southeast, and we are well aware of the dangers they pose. Scary. I didn't get bit by any this year but did have to kill a couple tiny ones that were crawling on my legs. Barry got several bites but got them off before they had time to infect him with anything. Fortunately, they are worse here in the spring, and we haven't seen any lately.
