Welcome to Tuesday. Today would have been my brother's birthday, but he died young. Really early onset Alzheimer's took him.
This is how today started. This level of destruction would probably require nuclear weapons. This would be bad. However, he TACOed. He's given the Iranians a two week extension on extermination, IF they open the strait. No word on how that's going. Current negotiations are being held by Pakistan and Iran, and then China entered the conversation. China and Pakistan really need the strait to be open.
As always, it is astonishing to me that Congress is not impeaching or applying the 25th Amendment to get this guy out of office. He should not have the nuclear codes any more.
Last night, Iran attacked Jubail Industrial City, Saudi Arabia's largest petrochemical complex: the zone that produces 60,000,000 tons of petrochemicals a year which is 6 to 8 percent of EVERYTHING the world makes. This was unfortunate, pretty much everything is petroleum based. Read all about it here.
We rode this morning, it was very pleasant, not too hot. We both had a good bike day. A good bike day is when you feel strong on the hills, and not like you're dying. We've both had a recent spate of feeling like death on the bikes. I'm hoping it's over for awhile. Figures we'd get better now, we're leaving next Tuesday.
Examine the spines on this cactus. They're extraordinarily long. The plant is barrel shaped. The flowers are what first caught my eye, very pretty. Google identifies it as an Astrophytum ornatum cactus.
That's it. I did want to document the two week extension of nuclear winter. 47 is diluting his ability to be threatening because he keeps backing down.

I'm convinced that someone or someones, republicans, are quietly plotting to move trump aside. Vance or Rubio people maybe. They're not as stupid as some others in the cabinet (with its billionaires and business people) and Rubio is a career politician -- those people are always trying to maneuver to position themselves for the next presidential election. Trump is no doubt still not ruling himself out for 28 so all this maneuvering would have to be done in whispers. I regret that I probably won't live long enough to know the full story behind this awful administration.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking maybe the generals were pushing back, at least the ones Hegseth hasn't fired. I did read that they have refused to hit some targets Hegseth ordered. Don't know how true that is. Hard to believe that there isn't a single republican willing to stand with the democrats to get rid of this dangerously senile man.
ReplyDeleteI heard something this morning, good leaders surround themselves with good people who know how to do their jobs well. Explains a lot about trump.
ReplyDeleteI did not have world war 3 being started by the US on my bingo card.
The biggest issue with this so-called cease fire is that Israel is not part of it, and if Lebanon was meant to be, they seem to have been left out. Israel sent more bombs last night hitting targets in Lebanon.
ReplyDeleteIQ45 is trying to find a way out of the mess he (and Hegseth) created and there is no real off-ramp. Iran may open the strait but it will cost those who sail through it - I'm hearing $2M (I assume USD) for safe passage. Fuel prices and shortages aren't going to end anytime soon.
Honestly, I don't think impeachment, though much deserved, will change much for the citizenry. The damage has been done and will take decades to resolve.
The Republicans made such a big deal about Obama not sticking to his "red lines," and how is this any different? Not that I want any bombing to happen. I just don't understand how this is supposed to get the people of Iran on "our side" against their government, and thus achieve regime change. All we've done is kick the hornet's nest and kill off a generation of elderly leaders to make room for younger ones.
ReplyDeleteOh, and that is a very interesting cactus! Never seen anything like it that I can remember.
DeleteI hear it is a 2-week war pause with stipulations, and the stipulations have already been broken. War crimes are numerous.
ReplyDeleteHaving a madman with the nuclear option calling the shots and making threats will not lead to ending the war.
I remember the Arizona cactus. The yellow is outstanding.
