Well, I have not dropped off the face of the earth, I've just had too much ennui to buckle down and put words on the screen.
Yesterday I saw the ENT, good thing. My left ear canal has collapsed, so wax can't easily leave the area. ENTs are good for removing the build up. It looks like I'm back on the once a year torture plan. I also picked up my new ear plug. No water is allowed to enter that ear ever, so showers require a swim plug. The technology has changed. The top one is from 2015, the new one is from now. It's smaller and more flexible. It works, so that's good. It's also easier to get in the ear, since it's flexible, and the old one is not. The black mark on the new one is a serial number. The ENT did say that the hole in my ear drum is not terrible, which is good.
We have a nesting hummingbird. This year the bird has picked a better place to build her nest. It's really difficult to get a photo of her because of all of the leaves. Look in the middle of the photo, about 1/3 down from the top. Her face is in the sun, so look for the bright spot. She's in there. Unlike last time, I won't be taking photos of the babies, the nest is too high. If you want to see the last nest, look at the labels, and click on the Baby Hummingbirds.
Jim took this the other night, there wasn't much color, but it was a nice sky.
47 has said, out loud, that he thinks Republicans should run the elections. Any Democratic win is always fraud. The Speaker of the House said he had not evidence to support that opinion, but it made sense to him. These people are idiots.
Other odds and ends from twitter; Mark Kelly tweeted "We
had a hearing on what happens when the last major nuclear treaty
between the U.S. and Russia expires this week. It's nothing good.
Unfortunately, reducing nuclear risk doesn't seem to be a priority for
this Administration." Then there was this: The last nuclear arms treaty between the US and Russia expires today.
For the first time since 1969, there will be no treaty constraining the nuclear arms race.
It's worth remembering that when Trump scrapped the Iran nuclear deal in his first term, he said he'd get a "better deal."
It never happened.
Ukraine is freezing to death. 47 is not sending any weapons, the EU is busy having meetings and clutching their pearls. There are two primary factories producing the missiles that are taking out all of the electrical production in Ukraine. With long range missiles, these could be destroyed. But no.
What they say: just give Donbas to russia to end the war. What they mean: stop defending yourself, reward russia with land it can't take from you, condemn your people to a silent genocide under occupation which we'll look away from, & start a countdown to russia's next invasion. It's just appalling.
The Washington Post has gutted the reporting it used to do. No more coverage on Asia, Ukraine, the Middle East and many other areas. I guess Bezos needed to save some money after spending all those dollars on the Melania movie.
Oh, and then there was this from Dr. Oz. "Seniors should retire later and kids put off schooling and work right out of high school. They should do this in order to make up for federal debt." Oprah owes us an apology for this fraud.

Dictatorship - mission accomplished/ It is not pessimistic to acknowledge! USA so weakened Russia or China could easily take the wheel, I hope they like fast food...
ReplyDeleteMilitary dictatorship is not going to be fun. US "democracy" is so over- this is new territory.
I agree with Linda Sue.
ReplyDeletewhen people have been warning about this and them for fifty years....
and things like demolishing and rebuilding the Kennedy Centre are just distraction theory personified.
they keep on saying that seniors should retire later..same here..but then complain that young people don't have jobs....
ReplyDeleteIn the US, it's very difficult to get a job after you're 50. The discrimination starts when you're 40. So, Oz clearly has no idea what he's talking about, like much of this administration.
DeleteOf course they could just tax the billionaires and that would take care of the national debt but no, high school is all you need, get your ass a job, and forget about retiring. And when we have no doctors, no engineers, no architects, no scientists, then what? This is what they want. And now they want to fine women $30,000 if they don't have children before 30.
ReplyDeleteI saw information on the numbers of seniors working, apparently 16% of women and 25% of men over the age of 65 continue to work (average is about 19% of seniors). Retirement is not a possibility for so many and simply adding more to the workforce would mean fewer jobs for young people. How about the millionaires and billionaires pay a fair proportion of the income taxes instead? Oz is an idiot...and he never did buy the ostriches.
ReplyDeleteI'm so annoyed with the news, they tell half a story, most of it a spin to make things more palatable, and fail to fact check those who are speaking....in other words the entire administration. They do it in Canada too. Pierre Polievre (heavy on the LIE), had his review for leadership of the Conservative Party in Canada. The news outlet how he received a glowing 87.4% confidence vote. What they failed to report is there were 675,000 members eligible to vote and only 2700 delegates attended and were able to vote. In other words .4% of those eligible provided their support to the Canadian mini-Trump. It was reported by some sites that each of the delegates had to pay $1000 to attend. Whether that is true or not, I don't know.
On the other hand, the UK is certainly responding to the Epstein files. Starmer is under pressure to step down, for failure to properly vet Mendelson and admitting he was aware that Mendelson was a friend of Epstein. Of Mendelson has been dropped and is currently under investigation.
The fuckery continues unabated doesn't it? At least we have the lovely Sunrises and Sunsets to look forward to and get our Minds off how awful things are with Humanity, and the lack of it around us, and Globally. I think Retirement won't be possible and our Young folks are screwed and have a very questionable Future. Most can't afford the essentials now, whether they have higher education or not, and if they aren't better educated and must find menial jobs directly after High School they will then be a permanent underclass that the elite can further manipulate and exploit at will. Of coarse, I think that is the Master Plan of the 1% who have all the Money and all the Power now, while also being among the most corrupt that will never serve Prison Time for their serious Crimes.
ReplyDeleteI could have sworn I commented on this post, but maybe not! I do see the hummingbird and can't wait to see how the nest matures. I'm seriously thinking I'm going to cancel my Washington Post subscription. I've kept it all this time, partly because it's relatively inexpensive, but the Bezos-meddling is just becoming too much.
ReplyDeleteI checked awaiting moderation, and no one is in there. However, you remind me that I should check more often. I will cancel next February, I paid for a year, and there are no refunds. Then, we're done.
