There's a chance that the aurora could be visible tonight. So, of course, the clouds are moving in. There is a large storm heading for Phoenix, we may get some rain out of it, too.
This has been an aggravating week. We've been hiring two guys for small jobs in the yard, and they were good. Then we hired them for a larger job, digging up some ugly plants, trim the palm tree, and deliver and spread a bunch of rock. Monday they were supposed to start at 7:30, we were up and waiting. They did not show until 12:30. So, they got some work done, but not the rock. Tuesday they were supposed to be here at 8:00 with rock. They pushed it to 11:00. Then they did not show at all. Jim called and left a voice mail, telling Andres he wanted to know what was his plan to get this back on track. The nice lady at the office called and apologized a lot. So, they're supposed to be back tomorrow, we'll see.
Today they couldn't come because we had two dentist appointments. I can not believe the cost of dental care. Jim costs more because of his periodontal disease. I have a tiny cavity which, of course, they want to fill immediately, it hasn't made it through the enamel yet so it's not dire. While waiting for Jim to be done, I went to my favorite dollar store. It's a nice one, well organized and clean. Look at these bowls, are they cute or what? I have no need of them, or anywhere to put them, so they stayed put.
Then I went to a pet store and looked. This is a Corn Snake. He can be yours for $99. He did not move the entire time I was looking at him.
This was taken today about 5-ish. The light was pretty.
The other thing we did today was replace a smoke detector battery because it was chirping. I say this as a reminder to myself in the future.
47 continues to rattle on. He had an interview with Laura Ingraham. She asked if he was still going to authorize H1B visas, and he said yes, the US needs the talent. Then he went off on a tangent about how talented workers are not available locally. MAGA is pretty upset about this. Adelita Grijalva was sworn in today, she brought two Epstein survivors with her. Good on her. With her signature, the discharge petition was signed. The Hill has a good article on what happens next.
That's it, that's all I have to say.

I dislike dentists for the pain from the treatments and the pain of the cost. The latter isn't quite as bad now, as my coverage in retirement is better than it was when I was working.
ReplyDeleteMy brother sent me several photos, many from friends and family, of the Aurora Borealis. Almost made me wish I were back at home. ;) The latest was taken on Baffin Island and his friend was actually looking south to see them. I was amazed that they were visible this far south.
Poor corn snake. I'd be tempted to buy him just to set him loose, though I'd first get him to some place where he's likely to meet other corn snakes. (Are they native to Arizona?) Ninety-nine dollars seems like a steep price!
ReplyDeleteNot native, they're mainly in the forests of the south east.
DeletePoor corn snake. (And I don't even like snakes!)
ReplyDeleteThe bowls are a beautiful color and I admire your self control!
