Ack. Things are still falling apart, including my beloved husband. A PA is a Physician's Assistant. Some are better than others. PA-1 said it was trochanteric bursitis, and no sign of arthritis. We've been expecting arthritis because that is the femur that went through the acetabulum in 2006. PA-2 said it appears to be arthritis in the hip, and was not open to the bursitis diagnosis. Last night the hip got more painful by an order of magnitude, as well as pain shooting down the leg. That suggests to us, unencumbered by facts and data, that perhaps it's a herniated disk pushing on a nerve. So, we're thinking we're going to try to wrap up the summer season here early, head south and have our capable GP send us to a real doctor who can get to the bottom of this. In the meantime, Jim is not a happy camper.
The Korean Dogwood is making fruit. Said fruit then falls off into the rock garden, and at some point I will have to go out and pick them up.
Yesterday the big burly men came and installed the new microwave. Since it's a new model, they had to change something. They moved all of the control buttons from the left side, to the right side. It's going to take my hands awhile to learn that. Here is a really terrible picture of it.
The following is from twitter yesterday. It was an action packed day.
Russia is provoking Japan with the nuclear intercontinental ballistic missile "Bulava" — the aggressor has for the first time sent its newest submarine with modern lethal weapons to the Japanese shores.
WAPO reports that the US Defense Secretary urgently summoned hundreds of generals and admirals for a closed-door meeting next week, sparking concern among top military brass. WAPO also reports that it appears that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered hundreds of generals to travel on short notice from around the world to hear him make a short speech on military standards and the “warrior ethos.”
Think about this, he's moved all of the generals and admirals to one location at the same time, and everybody knows where they are. One bomb could take out our entire command and control structure.
Other than this, I have not too much to say, except for the stupid is strong with this administration.

Has he had xrays? A radiologist can tell what is the problem. Arthritis shows up on xrays, herniated disc would need an MRI.
ReplyDeleteYour last sentence, the stupid is strong in this administration. Truer words were never spoken/written.
We did have X-rays, and got two different interpretations. No radiologist has looked at the films, just the PAs, which is part of the reason my hair is on fire over this. Neither image had very good resolution. I think we need an actual doctor to do imaging and figure it out. Medical care in Spokane is abysmal. Tucson is full of old people, so (in the past, at least) there are hip guys available.
DeleteWTF, a radiologist needs to look at the images. I can't believe that they let PAs read xrays. Radiologists spend fifteen years learning how to read xrays and scans, they're the experts. So frustrating!
DeleteYe gods, Allison. I was so preoccupied with worrying about what was going to be discussed at this meeting that it never even occurred to me that all our military leaders would be in one spot.
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a jolt to consider.
You have to wonder whose side Hegseth is on. Actually, you just have to wonder, constantly.
ReplyDeleteIn these days of Zoom and conference calls, it does seem rather ridiculous (and foolhardy) to gather everyone in one spot!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear Jim's hip is acting up. Would it be an option to go to an urgent care facility where you are and see a real doctor who could then possibly refer you to a specialist? Or is it better to wait until you're back in AZ?
We've been to one Ortho walkin clinic and one hospital associated Ortho clinic. No doctors are available, only Physician's Assistants. Doctors up here are scarce.
DeleteCould be a pinched nerve. When I had pain in my hip and pain shooting down my leg that's what it was. I went to a chiropractor/kinesiologist who fixed me right up after a few adjustments.
ReplyDeleteDHS blew through its budget early on on ICE, millions being spent on the gathering of generals (and yeah that's what occurred to me all in one place) and how dare that punk Hegseth lecture actual warriors, propping up Argentina because he's a Trump follower; this administration is spending money like a drunk sailor but not on anything that actually benefits Americans.
I do hope that Jim is able to get the correct diagnosis and treatment soon. Pain can be so debilitating.
ReplyDeleteStupid...that sums up the US administration completely.
I'm not so sure it's just Stupid, some of it is calculated disguised as Stupidity and is quite intentional, who knows whose Pockets have been lined by Bad Actors of our Enemies? We know Donnie Two Dolls has been bought and paid for Years ago, long before he got into Politics, he couldn't borrow from American Banks so he got into Dark Money Loans YEARS ago and Owes Big, some very Bad Actors. So sorry your DH is suffering, the Health Care Crisis in America is outrageous for everyday Americans.
ReplyDeleteThat last illustration says it all...he is vindictive.
ReplyDeleteHope you can get a proper assessment and treatment soon for your husband
dang JIM, that is not great, i needn't tell y'all. Fingers crossed it is something fixable and soon! Allison- packing up- again, holy cow, seems you just got here and there you go again.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I kinda sorta wish you hadn't gone with another Frigidaire microwave. I hope this one will last. Ours was only 2 years old when we had the first problem, and it was an over $1K model. Ridiculous. When we checked, it had already been discontinued. And since it has died twice since the first repair, we know it was a true lemon. Hopefully the rest of the Frigidaire line isn't equally cursed.
ReplyDeleteI'm obviously far behind on my blog reading, so I hope by now Jim is feeling better. Pain is not a pleasant thing.
