Hedge Trimming and the Usual

Yesterday 47 gave the commencement address at West Point Military Academy.  He was unable to locate the podium and had to be guided to it.  Once speaking, he digressed to his new story about a rich guy who retired, divorced his wife, got a trophy wife and a big yacht.  Very inspiring.  He also said, to a graduating class who all started school during the Biden administration, that "no one joined the military" on Biden's watch.  Liar.  After speaking he up and left saying he had to go deal with Russia and China, to go play golf.  Obama and Biden stayed and shook every graduating cadets' hand.

We trimmed the hedge.  I think it was too early, the new growth was still pretty soft and often bent over rather than being cut by the hedge trimmer.  I think I'm going to wait a couple of weeks before attempting another pass.  Here is me with the weapon.

Here is yard waste.

From a distance, it doesn't look too bad.  I don't know how people get these things perfectly straight and level.

We rode to the lake today, first time in two weeks.  Although we have diligently rowed and used the spin bike, there was still loss of bicycle fitness.  Nothing crosses over with anything. It hit the upper 80's today.  It may finally be time to uncover the air conditioner.

These guys are committing a major violation of boat ramp etiquette.  One does not, under any circumstances, get in the ramp line with out having one's boat ready to go in the water, especially on a holiday weekend.  People get very testy when their launch is delayed by unprepared people.  That boat cover should have been removed prior to getting in line.  The camp hosts had a busy day marshaling the boats coming and going.  I do not miss owning a boat.

The Senate is beginning to push back on the Big Bad Bill.  They are upset about the increase to the deficit.  That's good, but there are other, more important things to be upset about.  Here are a few.

Graham and McConnell are currently talking a good line, but they'll cave.  It's that whole lack of a spine and a moral compass.

This is cool.

That's it, that's all I have.

It's inevitable that Trump is going to come into conflict with the Supreme Court. What's going to be interesting is how that impasse is handled. The court can point out when something is illegal, but if the offender fundamentally doesn't care about the law and holds the reins of power, I'm not sure what can be done. Hence, constitutional crisis.

  2. Too many people in this country are ignorant or disengaged or soft and most especially, lazy. We've had everything at our fingertips, been on top for too long. Dark days indeed.

  3. The most amazing thing to me about his speech was that he said, "Nobody joined the military when Biden was president" to a class of cadets who all signed up when Biden was president.

John Fetterman has received many an e-mail from me saying that it is time for him to stand up what is happening. Silence, no response for weeks. I finally got an e-mail that explained that he felt his job was to figure out how to work within the system. Yesterday, he got an email from me that said this was NOT his job. His job was to uphold the constitution and to be the voice of his constituents, to carry their concerns to Washington. He's voting a "hard no" on the big beautiful bill. If I understand, Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell are voting against it as well.

  5. I think you did a great job on the hedge. I gave refused to buy a property with a hedge because I hate trimming the darned things (cottoneaster are horrid), but of course my son went ahead and purchased one. I'll have to remind him where to find the clippers.
Every day there is something new to be horrified about in the USA. I do hope sanity prevails.

  6. The Draft Dodging Coward has no respect for our Military and showing up at the Academy was all about him and promoting himself, he could care less about any of our Active Duty, Veterans or their Families and he's voiced that numerous times, so there should be no delusions at this point. That said, his Devoted will probably remain his Cult Members no matter what, his Cult Leader Playbook is pretty typical, sure he's studied the tried and true methods all Cult Leaders of the Past and Present also use. The Fuckery of it all has exceeded all boundaries, checks or balances, it is alarming. Your Hedge looks very nice, we have Two and they are a lot of upkeep and maintenance to keep them looking okay, but, they were here when we bought the property and are pretty, so, we just keep on top of it rather than the work and expense of taking them out and/or replacing them with something else that isn't mature and might not survive. Arizona is a harsh environment for a lot of landscape decisions. If something stays alive and thriving, you don't risk replacements. *LOL*
