Day 133

Welp, he did it.  He took us out of the Paris Accord.  We join the illustrious countries of Syria and Nicaragua in not being part of curbing climate change and green house gas emissions.  Even Russia signed it, but not us.
It was an interesting statement in the Rose Garden, when Trump said he'd been elected to represent the people of Pittsburgh and not Paris. One wonders if he thinks the accord is all about the French.  He went on to say that he'd renegotiate and get a better deal for the US.  A response came forth very quickly.  This is from the WAPO.
“We’re getting out,” he added, “but we will start to negotiate and we will see if we can make a deal that’s fair. If we can, that’s great. If we can’t, that’s fine.”
The leaders of France, Germany and Italy issued a joint statement voicing “regret” about Trump’s move, promising to redouble their efforts to implement the Paris agreement and asserting it cannot be renegotiated.
“We deem the momentum generated in Paris in December 2015 irreversible and we firmly believe that the Paris Agreement cannot be renegotiated, since it is a vital instrument for our planet, societies and economies,” read the statement from French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni.
Following Trump’s speech, Macron spoke with the president by phone for five minutes and “indicated that nothing was renegotiable in the Paris Accords,” according to a French official briefed on the conversation.
And from the HuffPo there is this:
The United Nations estimates that the U.S. stands to lose jobs in the rapidly growing clean energy industry ― estimated to be worth $6 trillion by 2030 ― to Europe, India and China. Countries that tax emissions may put tariffs on American-made imports. And big companies that expect the U.S. to eventually regulate carbon are likely to see Trump’s decision as only delaying the inevitable, while also sowing the sort of instability investors don’t like.
I don't feel like he's making America great again.

  1. If there is a "wrong side of history," Trump seems determined to take that exit at every crossroads.

  2. Listening to the news reports here it appears that a lot of states etc will carry on trying to meet the requirements of the Paris Agreement. To call climate change a hoax is unfathomable.

  3. So embarrassing for us as Americans on the world stage to have a short-sighted POTUS with no regard for science. Every day he gives us something new to cringe about. Not to mention the disregard for future generations. Such a self-centered little man. Sad!

  4. As with everything this cretin does it is wrong on many different levels! He is not for America or its people, he is only out for himself...he must be jealous of everything that Obama did because he is trying to overturn every single thing he (and his wife) did.

The funny thing is that his enormous ego can't seem to see that he is making himself the laughingstock of American history.
