Jim's Achilles

This is so not what you want to see when you catch up with the husband on a bike ride.

Jim has ruptured his Achilles tendon.  There will be surgery and rehab.  It's always something.

  1. Oh, Allison, I am so sorry to read this. I know how excited you were to be back biking. How did Jim do this on his bike. Did he fall? Best wishes for a successful surgery:)

  2. Lots of words immediately come to mind, but none that are worthy to print. I don't even know what to say. What a year you two have had. I am so very sorry. But also trust it is all just "temporary." Please give Jim a hug...

  3. I feel so bad for Jim. In 2008 I fell out of the fifth wheel and broke my ankle and ruptured my Achilles tendon. That was not fun. But they did wonders at reattaching the tendon to the bone once they got the broken bone set. And Jim is in such good shape physically that I know he will do great. Just obey the doctor - which seems to be almost impossible for men. Hugs to both of you.

  4. Oh hell! This puts a damper on things. Wishing Jim a speedy and uneventful recovery.

  5. When it rains it pours… I, too, am surprised that it happened while riding his bike. I pray that he can get a walking-cast and salvage this winter's trip. Better there in sunshine and warmth than in the PNW. We will stop by and bring cookies and adult beverage when we get down your way.
Till then, keep a stiff upper lip… and eardrum, and achilles,

  6. Hate to hear this. Too many of us seem to be falling apart despite our best efforts to prevent it.

  7. Oh no no no! I am SO sorry to read this! I just got over a mild Achilles strain, and that was bad enough. I hope his recovery time won't be too long. :-(
